BELTON LAKE AND STILLHOUSE HOLLOW RESERVOIR
The US Army Corps of Engineers maintains both lakes. Belton
Lake hosts 13 parks including the popular outdoor recreation
center. Stillhouse offers 7 parks with numerous boat ramps.
Facilities include campsites with water and electrical hookups,
picnic areas, beaches, group pavilions, fishing docks, support
for recreational watercraft, and small craft rentals. 

BELL COUNTY EXPO CENTER
Main arena, special events room, exposition building, assembly hall and barn.
Events are held throughout the year including rodeos, concerts, trade and gun
shows. The center has hosted the Central Texas Stampede Hockey Team and Central
Texas Arena Football.  

CENTRAL TEXAS COLLEGE
A two-year institution offers Associate degrees in several areas of study.
The main campus in Killeen also serves campuses at military bases throughout
the United States and world. Certificates are awarded in more than 40 areas
of study and CTC offers educational and work training programs. 
 

TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY CENTER
A part of the Texas A&M University System offers upper-level curriculum leading
to a bachelor's degree and courses leading to graduate degrees. The Campus Center
is located in Killeen.

KILLEEN - FT HOOD
Killeen began in 1882 with Santa Fe Railway works project and was named for
Frank P. Killeen, a local civil engineer with the railroad. The town continued
as a small farming and ranching community until Camp Hood was established.
Killeen then rapidly developed.
Camp Hood founded in 1942 after start of WWII. Reestablished in 1951 as Fort Hood
and designated an active military base, houses the largest collection of soldiers
and fighting machines in the world. It is located in the Killeen metropolitan district
of Central Texas between Dallas and Austin covering 339 square miles. This massive post
includes Robert Gray Army Airfield, West Fort Hood, North Fort Hood training area, and
the main base encampment .
